High Compliance Demands

From the outset, Thailand’s strict HR compliance requirements meant that the joint venture needed a system capable of handling detailed payroll and tax regulations. Initially, SAIC Motor relied on CP’s SAP HCM system to manage salaries and taxes, but it was not sufficient for long-term needs.

Two Different HR Systems

CP Group traditionally used SAP HCM, while SAIC Group adopted Yonyou HCM. Merging two global corporations with different HR systems created operational challenges in data management and reporting.

Different Management Practices

Cultural and structural differences between Chinese and Thai organizations became apparent. Compensation systems, leave entitlements, and approval workflows varied greatly, which CP’s SAP HCM could not flexibly accommodate.

Complex Compensation Rules

SAIC Motor’s payroll structure was highly complex, with multiple salary items and intricate overtime rules. For example, overtime needed to be calculated at 1.5×, 2×, or 3× rates, sometimes with different rates within the same period. The SAP system struggled to manage these requirements.

Need for Standardization and Growth

SAIC Motor recognized the importance of building a standardized, digital HR foundation that could support its strategic growth in Thailand. Optimizing HR processes across levels of the organization became a critical task.

Yonyou HCM was implemented to fully comply with Thailand’s personnel and compensation regulations. It automated the generation of all mandatory reports, including SSO103, SSO609, PND1, and PND91, reducing compliance risks and manual effort.

 

Multi-Language Support

The system supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, and Thai, enabling seamless use for both Chinese expatriates and local employees, and improving communication across the workforce.

 

Comprehensive HR Coverage

The solution provided end-to-end coverage, including organization management, personnel information, personnel changes, payroll, time management, tax filing, social security reporting, and analytics. Both employee self-service and manager self-service platforms were introduced, digitalizing daily HR operations.

 

Paperless HR Processes

With the new system, leave applications, overtime requests, and payroll slips were all handled online. Employees could check attendance, leave balances, and tax documents independently, removing the need for paper-based processes.

 

Bank Integration

Yonyou HCM was connected with major Thai banks such as K-BankBangkok Bank, ensuring secure and efficient payroll transactions.

 

Advanced Compensation Handling

The solution was designed to manage SAIC Motor’s complex payroll requirements. Once employees clock in, the system automatically calculates overtime duration and applies the correct pay rate for each period, ensuring accurate and transparent compensation.
